The Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) is an association of several companies operating in Indonesia with a shared commitment to promote sustainable development through sustainable economic growth, ecological balance, and social growth.
Indonesia is the fourth largest economy in Southeast Asia and the fourth most populated country in the world. Its location between the continents of Asia and Australia, affects the country’s economy besides its abundant potential natural resources. Indonesia have the capacity to meet domestic as well as the global needs. The country’s consumption pattern is predicted to continue to grow because of natural population growth, and significant increase of purchasing power of the middle class.
Aligned with sustainable development principles, the IBCSD took initiative to develop the vision of Indonesia 2050 and joint corporate action plan based on the principles of sustainable development. This vision is expected to be a guide to gradual and holistic improvement in corporate governance. This vision also states the target of the corporate sector which is then actively communicated to the government, in order to create enabling conditions necessary for a fundamental change in future corporate governance of Indonesia.
